Book Launch for Sr. Jacinta


For a number of years, Sr. Jacinta Prunty has been part of the Royal Irish Academy group working on the Irish Historic Towns Atlas project. On Friday, 20th May, four publications were launched, among them "Reading the Maps: a Guide to the Irish Historic Towns Atlas", which was written by H.B. Clarke and Sr. Jacinta.

Talk on Human Trafficking


On Tuesday, 12th April, Srs, Eilis Cole and Mary Mangan of Act to Prevent Trafficking (APT) came to Glasnevin to speak on the global problem of human trafficking. They spoke of the difference between smuggling and trafficking, the devasting effects of the latter and the growing problem in this area in Ireland.

The Associates recently had an overnight retreat in the Tearmann Spirituality Centre in Glendalough. Fr. Michael Rodgers, founder of the centre, and Sr. Breda cp gave imput for reflection.   There was time for walks in the beautiful contemplative atmosphere of Glendalough and to enjoy community together at meals.

Pilgrims in Waterford
Pilgrimage to Waterford

On Saturday, February 26th, eighteen sisters and associates went on a day's pilgrimage to Waterford. Highlights included visiting Waterford cathedral for Mass and seeing Margaret Aylward's baptismal entry in the 1810 Register, visiting Thomas Street where her home was, the Aylward grave in Tramore and the Edmund Rice Centre.

Srs. Evelyn and Goretti, course directors

Sr. Evelyn visits Nigeria and Ghana

Sr. Evelyn Greene visited both Nigeria and Ghana recently  with Daughter of Charity, Sr. Goretti Butler, to give training in Child Protection Policy to religious orders' leadership and  help them draw up their own policy documents. Read the interesting accounts of the two trips.

Associates' meeting

Associate Gathering to celebrate the feast of Fr. John Gowan

 St. Mary's Road community facilitated a gathering of our three area groups on Sunday, 16 January to celebrate the feast of Fr. John Gowan. Present were Associates, Candidates and two people who are discerning their call to Associate membership.

Twenty-two sisters, associates and friends walked 110 kms on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain in mid-August.
